NDT inspections and a full pre-purchase survey were carried out in two locations due to new sponsorship commitments. The carbon mast was inspected at CDK in France and the pre-purchase carried out in Spain. The heel of the mast takes most of the load on a ball swivel and is adjusted by a mast spanner and purchase. The socket that houses the ball was cracked along with the gooseneck heel fitting and not visible to the naked eye. It was decided to replace the base ball socket. Before and after shows the extent of the damage to the base of the mast. The sea trials were superb.
